Risk Management of MRTS Projects in India Under PPP model
Abstract
The “Risk analysis of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) projects in India under prublic Private Partnership(PPP) models” was done for one of the bidders fro the Mumbai Metro Rail Project. The firm is an MNC and has completed many projects abroad. (As per request, name is not disclosed). The project contract was finalized by the authorities. This paper is a comparative study between different metro projects on a global platform, as well as in India, and thereafter proposes a suitable model for the Indian scenario. The paper also contains a brief about the development of urban mass transit industry in India, and on different types of models used in PPP projects. THe risk management starts with definition of the risk besides providing a bird’s eye view on risks involved with MRTS projects, and risks in PPP projects. then the critical risks which severely affect the project completion have been identified and the risk mitigation strategies have been discussed. This paper will help the biding firms in infrastructure project construction under PPP model.
