Vision Viksit Bharat@2047: Opportunities and Challenges for India’s Growth Trajectory
Abstract
India stands at a transformative juncture as it approaches the centenary of its independence in 2047, with an ambitious vision to become a fully developed, high-income nation—”Viksit Bharat.” The conceptual research paper examines the strategic framework for India’s economic transformation over the next two decades, analyzing both the substantial opportunities and formidable challenges that will shape the nation’s growth trajectory. Drawing from recent policy documents from NITI Aayog, World Bank assessments, and international economic projections, the paper integrates theoretical frameworks with contemporary data to present a holistic view of India’s path to developed status. The analysis reveals that while India possesses unprecedented demographic advantages, technological capabilities, and geopolitical positioning, success requires comprehensive institutional reforms, investments in human capital, and sustainable growth models that balance economic expansion with social equity and environmental stewardship. The paper contributes to understanding the multidimensional nature of development in the context of a democratic, pluralistic, lower-middle-income economy transitioning to high-income status.
