Bibliometric Insights into Research on SMEs’ Access to Finance
Abstract
Small and Medium Enterprises contribute significantly to economic growth, employment, innovation, and poverty reduction but often struggle to obtain formal financing. This study uses bibliometric methods to examine global research on SME access to finance, including publication patterns, contributors, journals, themes, and emerging trends. The results show increased research activity after 2015 in areas such as financial technology, digital finance, financial inclusion, crowdfunding, and sustainable finance. The paper identifies future research opportunities in digital lending, green finance, and inclusive financial systems.
