SCOPE OF CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE IN OPTIMISING MSMEs’ BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
Abstract
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are vital drivers of economic progress, contributing to job creation, exports, innovation, and industrial expansion. Despite their significance, these enterprises often struggle with constraints such as insufficient financial resources, weak IT infrastructure, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, operational inefficiencies, and limited access to wider markets. Cloud infrastructure has emerged as a powerful technological solution capable of transforming the business environment of MSMEs.
This paper explores the potential of cloud-based solutions in enhancing MSME operations through improved scalability, cost efficiency, flexibility, secure data management, business continuity, and overall digital transformation. It also examines the key barriers to cloud adoption, including implementation costs, data security concerns, lack of technical expertise, and resistance to technological change.
The analysis reveals that cloud infrastructure significantly improves operational efficiency, decision-making, customer relationship management, and competitiveness in the digital marketplace. The study concludes by recommending strategic initiatives, policy support, and increased awareness to accelerate cloud adoption among Indian MSMEs and enable sustainable business growth.
